Bikes with an immobilizer, whether Honda's HISS, BMW's EWS, the Ducati red-key arrangement or the newer keyless systems, need the chip enrolled with the bike's module, which is done at the curb. The fork lock is turned several times before the van leaves, since it is the lock most likely to bind on a key cut a fraction shallow.

Motorcycle keys run $115 to $275. A plain mechanical key for an older Honda or a scooter is $115. Transponder keys, and immobilizer bikes where no key exists and the module has to be read, reach $275. The $89 service call is inside that figure. An ignition lock damaged past reading, which is what a failed theft attempt leaves behind, is quoted as its own line before any work starts. Weekends carry no premium; only the $50 evening and $85 overnight figures apply.
